Product Review ... Silde Gates, The Essmueller Company

The Essmueller Company

The Abel Slide Gate line was created by Abel Bin Company in 1963 to improve on existing gate designs available on the market.

According to Chris McLean, Abel Slide Gate manager, it was the first slide gate to incorporate the use of roller wheels that provided a more reliable gate.

In the early 1990s, Abel Manufacturing introduced the universal gate frame. "This change allowed for the use of single frame for all the possible drive options and is available in a high and low profile," says McLean.

In 2016, The Essmueller Company, manufacturer of bulk material handling equipment, purchased the Abel Slide Gate product line and moved the operations to Laurel, MS. According to McLean, Essmueller is committed to providing the same quality gate as many customers have come to rely on for over 50 years. "One change we have introduced is a standard powder coat finish for more durability in harsh environments," says McLean. "As the Abel Slide Gate division continues to grow, we are looking to provide one-to-two week delivery on most of the standard gates."
