In the grain industry, it’s common for companies to maintain a strong relationship with their communities. In the case of Honeyville Metal, its location is also where the company got its name. Although its mailing address is in Topeka, IN, President Mark Hochstetler says the company is actually located in the small unincorporated village of Honeyville.
“We’re in a small village that’s on the map as Honeyville (northeast Indiana). There was an area farmer in the 1950s who was really big into honeybees and had quite a few beehives scattered throughout the area,” he recalls. “Somebody started nicknaming this area ‘Honeyville,’ and that name stuck. My grandfather, Chris Hochstetler, picked it up and used it in his business name.”
Hochstetler says the company, founded in 1951, originally was called Honeyville Metal Works, but later “Works” was dropped from the name for brevity. Today, Honeyville Metal designs, manufactures, and delivers grain handling and dust collection equipment for farms, feed mills, seed houses, and lumber processing facilities worldwide.
Product Lineup
“We have two product lines,” Hochstetler explains. “We fabricate grain handling equipment, including bucket elevators, drag conveyors, screw conveyors, and now we’ve added support towers and structures. Secondly, we build dust collection systems, which include bag house filters, cyclones, blowers, blowpipe, and fittings with machine connections to the dust source extraction points.”
More than 65 years later, Hochstetler says Honeyville Metal remains a family-oriented, privately-held company with 75 employees committed to innovation, quality, and customer service.
