American Hoist & Manlift Inc. (AHM) was founded in June 1999 as a millwright contractor for sales, service, and installation of material handling equipment such as industrial cranes and belt manlifts. At that time, its customer base included industrial manufacturers, agricultural companies, and multi-level parking facilities.
Over the years, AHM has grown from a home start-up into a 23-employee company providing commercial and industrial businesses with a full range of preventive maintenance contracts, installation, repair, inspection, testing, replacement parts, and training with cage and belt manlift equipment and elevators.
American value. “Choosing a company name probably was the hardest decision after deciding to go into business,” says General Manager Joe Anderson. “I attribute my upbringing and background as a factor in deciding the company name.
“I spent many summers as a young child with my grandfather who was a World War II veteran and proud American. He taught me to look for products made in the United States,” Anderson recalls. “He said that American products are high quality and built to last.
“When we decided to go into business, we wanted a strong name that stood for quality and told the customers what we worked on. I associated being an American as hardworking, determined, brave, dedicated, along with quality and pride. These are the adjectives I want customers to associate with our company,” he adds.
