Software tracks all contracts to better manage grain flow, improve customer service

For a rapidly growing grain business like Stockholm Grain LLC, AgVision has been a valued partner assisting that growth since 2015.

“We’ve had some good years, and it has allowed us to grow our business a tremendous amount since 2015, and AgVision has helped us grow,” says Gabe Cox, manager of privately owned Stockholm Grain. “We are about five times the size we were five years ago, and AgVision software is one piece of the puzzle that has allowed us to grow. We have a lot of confidence in their software.”

Stockholm replaced its old accounting software system with AgVision in 2015, because Cox says AgVision provided a more technologically advanced platform and better customer service.

Cox notes that Stockholm Grain uses AgVision’s Commodity Manager platform to track all of its grain contracts. “If we are buying corn, wheat, or milo from our customers, we enter those contracts in AgVision’s Commodity Manager, and it saves all that information for us,” Cox remarks. “Also, Commodity Manager allows us to save the dates of the sales so we can track our positions for different times of the year, which allows me to better manage grain flow. It gives us accurate information.”

Stockholm Grain also uses the bin tracking feature of Commodity Manager to manage its inventory at all of its seven locations. “Because bin tracking tells us what we have in storage at each elevator, it helps me make better business decisions related to marketing because I can see what’s stored at each bin at each of our seven locations,” he says. “It’s a pretty nice feature because it allows us to narrow down all of the information to which crop is in which bin and tells us the average weight and moisture of the stored crops.”

Easier State Auditing Compliance

Also, Cox adds, Commodity Manager helps Stockholm Grain comply with state auditing requirements by providing the company’s position at each location.

Stockholm Grain’s customers really enjoy AgVision’s Scale Interface system, Cox notes. “All of our scales are tied into a VPN (virtual private network), which gives our customers’ online privacy and anonymity by creating a secure and private network from a public internet connection,” he states. That means all of the scale tickets from customers are saved at Stockholm Grain’s central headquarters location in Sharon Springs, KS. “That way, all of the data from scale tickets is stored on our server on the cloud so we never lose that data for our customers,” Cox adds.

In addition, AgVision’s Scale Interface saves all data up to the minute so there is no waiting until the next day to retrieve data.

AgVision’s customer service is very good, according to Cox. “When we added their software, they helped us learn the system one-on-one, and they always return our calls in a timely manner.”
