According to Dennis Barrack, information systems (IS) manager for Frenchman Valley Cooperative (FVC), Imperial, NE, the coop uses AgTrax’s Application Programming Interface (API) technology to allow FVC business channels to use specialized software required for optimal efficiency while providing a seamless interface to AgTrax, FVC’s core accounting system. Barrack has held the IS manager role since 2009 after FVC’s merger with Farmers Elevator Cooperative in 2008.
“When I first looked into AgTrax I quickly learned that behind the basic agent interface, FacetWin, was an architecture capable of supporting FVC’s objectives well into the future,” Barrack states. “I have an excellent working relationship with the AgTrax team and believe their system is enterprise-class quality.
“The API allows us to exchange critical customer data to and from AgTrax while allowing our divisions to work directly in the unique software they need to ensure FVC remains a premier service provider. These combined solutions provide an operating environment required to run an efficient complex agricultural cooperative,” he says. “Recognizable efficiencies are immediate, such as eliminating duplicate data entry points and availability of customer information to management, employees, and patrons.”
“The API facilitates bi-directional data exchange between cloud platforms for our grain and agronomy divisions and AgTrax,” he notes. “We are finalizing a search for our energy division that will also use the API to tie an energy integration solution to AgTrax.”
Barrack likes the way AgTrax offers FVC choices, such as the modern TraxView interface. “We also have preferences on our operating systems, AIX or Red Hat, and the ability to move our AgTrax systems to a secure cloud software as a service (SaaS) solution.”
Barrack says that a plan to move FVC to the TraxView and Red Hat cloud solution within the next few years is under consideration. “This move would support leadership initiatives to extract, analyze, and predict trending for our customer services and product offerings,” he remarks. “The SaaS solution would reduce risk mitigation for a major disaster, such as loss of the network hub currently hosting our AgTrax server.”
Barrack states, “AgTrax is a partner that gives us a voice in the features and functionality they release. The API, along with excellent support, has allowed FVC to optimize our operational efficiency and pursue our goals to be the superior provider of agricultural needs now and into the distant future.”
