Around the world, many countries are challenged in their efforts to reduce post-harvest losses and secure their grain stockpiles, whether imported or produced for domestic consumption.
Dirk Maier, Ph.D.,is a professor of agricultural engineering at Iowa State University in Ames, IA and director of the Consortium for Innovation in Post-Harvest Loss and Food Waste Reduction.
Maier will be discussing some of his many experiences traveling abroad working with post-harvest loss prevention and quality preservation in Latin America, Africa and Asia during the Grain Elevator and Processing Society GEAPS Exchange Online Conference Feb. 23-25.
He spoke with Grain Talk about the issue of post-harvest loss, how those challenges are being met, and previews his GEAPS presentation, scheduled for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
